Hello! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
Today I am sharing one of my favorite things to do on Hilton Head Island. I’m sharing this specifically for a few friends who are heading down there at the end of July and in August!
Growing up, my family always rented bikes on vacation. Some of our favorite & most hilarious memories are of our bike rides.
When Little Miss E came along, I couldn’t wait to take her biking. So when she was just 11 months old, we rented bikes with a baby seat on the back. Well, she was way too little for the seat, and she ended up screaming her head off. An hour later, we returned the bikes, and vowed never to try it again until she was much older!
On our last trip, we were feeling brave, so we woke up the girls one day and told them that we are going on some surprise adventures. Our first stop was the bike rental tent in Sea Pines!
E was pretty excited to ride a “big girl” bike with her daddy!
We rode 3 miles on the bike path from Sea Pines to South Beach. The bike path is through the woods, and therefore is away from cars & under plenty of shade!
I’m pretty sure E smiled the entire 3 miles there!
I rode with Carolina Girl on the back and she sang the entire way.
Near South Beach, we cut down one of the narrow paths to the beach for a picnic.
After picnicking & playing at the beach, we headed to the ice cream shop at South Beach!
After ice cream & a candy run at the general store, we biked the 3 miles back to Sea Pines. Carolina Girl snoozed on the way back, while E pedaled her little heart out. We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in Sea Pines & ended the day with a beautiful sunset.
We all agreed that was one of the best days of our vacation!
We used to have some beach cruisers at the cottage, but over time, the salty air got to them and they began to rust, so we had to get rid of them. Now that we are integrating some of our favorite things to do at the beach into our “every day” life, we are excited to get some new beach cruisers with kids seats on the back!
I’ll be back soon with a few pictures from a trip to a nearby beach that we took over the 4th. Also, I have a peak at our one “big” project that we are working on this Summer. And I’ve been working on a few small things that I plan to share as well!
